Waiter praised for refusing to serve insensitive guests

I love that this waiter took a stand in such a classy way. He didn't make a scene, he didn't use foul language. He simply refused to serve them.
You can read full article here but in short, the waiter was serving two groups of people one night. group A had a kid with downs syndrome with them that was making a lot of noise. Group B complained so he moved Group A to a table further away....and that's when group B dropped the line  'Special needs children need to be special somewhere else'. So he took a stand.

Support is flowing in from all over, thanking Michael Garcia for taking a stand for a special needs childMilo

The Dark side of chocolate

This is a very stressful documentary to watch. we're used to hearing about human trafficking in terms of children and women being kidnapped and sold to people for sex but I bet you never thought kids in Africa are being kidnapped and forced to work for little to no money...to make chocolate.

Tobias and Titus -The iron Men

Tobias and Titus are brothers. Titus, Tobias Bass's older brother suffers from cerebral palsy and can't hear, walk or eat food on his own. But he loves the outdoors....and little bro Tobias noticed:)

Well  this piece of news brought me to tears. Especially the 'I want to be his legs' part....I wasn't crying pretty either. It was a full blown ugly cry lol.
I guess because 'Project Abel' was named after my brother Abel....it touched my heart in a personal way. I love my family very much and I feel like there is nothing i haven't done or wouldn't do for them but to see a family like Tobias and Titus....who are being tested from day 1 in such a basic way- to see them overcome it TOGETHER...that's just so touching beyond words for me.

I watched the footage a few times and noticed something new every time. the communication between the brothers...how Tobias picked up on his brother Titus wanting to'high 5' him when it probably just looked like a random arm movement to anyone else.

I just wanted to write something about it. It made me smile, have faith in love and human beings this Tuesday morning.

Thanks Tobias & Titus. You guys sent a massive jolt of positive energy, smiles and love into this world. and it will stick. Click here to read article and see the video clip :)

Below is the letter Tobias sent in to News 9 Oklahoma asking for help in getting a jogger so he could take his brother on a 5k marathon.

Our mission in Augest was wonderful! We made some food, handed it out to the homeless we came across. Just did something positive ...as much a few people in this BIG world could.
Have a beautiful day. Smile, be happy, be kind....show some love:) xoxo PA

'Project Abel' Lives!

Oh man, its been over YEAR since I posted on Project Abels blog!
I've never stopped and have continued my work but I guess it was a sensitive thing to return to the blog. My beloved Vanessa passed away around the last time I posted (last year) and I imaged this whole thing with her too. With my entire family.

So it was painful. Id just started the blog so I could share what me and my family like to do and give to the world and then that happened. It was rough. it still is. Its a dark place for me emotionally... a part of me died. She was my family.
But the work has continued and Vanessa would not think it was ok if her passing led to the end of this blog. So the blog lives ladies and gents, and I'll definitely be more active.

Me and my angel will be out on a mission next week. I'll make sure to post an update or maybe even a video clip:) It's going to be amazing. Best way to celebrate this anniversary!!!

The Project gets stronger

Thank you to everyone that came out Feb 1! It went great and I REALLY wanted to post some pics but my camera was acting crazy that day WOW!

I've been having alot of thoughts on how to improve project Abel and a way to do this more often....its truly the most gratifying feeling in the entire world...to help someone else.
Alot of what we watch on TV or hear on radio is  desensitizing us from just how wrong it is for someone to be hungry and without a roof over their head.  its wrong. Its so wrong that the world should stop. but it doesn't....because we keep it moving. its unacceptable.
Thank you for placing me in the right place at the right time to help even one person. THANK YOU!
Till the next date, Prayers and strength to my brothers and sisters out there in the struggle.
Kings and Queens is what you are....and warriors always get tested.
Be strong.

Love

Christmas

So..Christmas.

This is a holiday celebrated by many Christians and non-Christians in the entire world. according to research, about 95% of Americans celebrate Christmas.

Family and friends gather, exchange gifts and enjoy each others company and good food. its a time for forgiveness and peace...unity and love- Its a holiday that should be celebrated and enjoyed to the fullest by anyone who wishes to, and that's not the case.
We imagine a day like this being an emotionally testing time for a person without a home, more so than the other days. wouldn't it be for you?
wouldn't you be thinking of your life?  of laughing or even arguing (who doesn't!) WITH family and friends? past Christmases where things may have been better?
or just sharing a meal and enjoying the company of another person..
In Florida the number of homeless people is  roughly at 85 000...

• 40% of all homeless people are families
• 60% are single adults
• 8% are elderly persons over 62 years of age
• 23% are children age 18 or younger

There are many things that can lead to being homeless but what we know for sure is that no one chooses this. no one.

Christmas speaks of giving and sharing. So we ask you to give and share as a part of Project ABEL when we go out for a run to share with our brothers and sisters out there who need us. what is project abel? please check out this link http://projectabel.blogspot.com/2011/11/what-is-project-abel.html

as well as this link http://projectabel.blogspot.com/2011/11/first-mission-thanksgiving.html

24 Dec is the date, 12:00pm-1:30 pm   THEN from 1:30pm until......(well.. till we all gotta go!) if you are free and are able to, Project Abel members will be heading to a restaurant  for food and drinks ourselves so we can cool off afterwards, swap some stories and thoughts..a little reasoning (We like that word...'reasoning'.)

and this is an original Project Abel run so we wont be collaborating with an organisation for this run.
so that means we all cook and package the food at our own homes before meeting up.
you will receive an email the day before (23rd Dec) on where we will meet and what areas we will be at that day.
interested? we definitely need you:)
please send us an email with your phone number and info to projectabelofficial@gmail
